I am the 4 x gr grandaughter of Mary Slade/Gill/Higgins/Eyles.
Peter HIggins was killed while feeling a tree in 1847 and Mary remarried Daniel Eyles. I am at present writing an account of Mary's amazing life and times. Sarah was her daughter in law and wife of son Sydney Higgins. He was first named Gill but baptised "HIggins" after Mary as a widow Gill with eight children married Peter .who was only 22 yrs!
I would greatly appreciate a copy of Sarah's diary - another remarkable woman. Gaynor James

I live in QLD and have a handwritten memoir hand written by my Nana Jane Turner Leov written in 1923 about the life of Mrs Sydney Higgens.
I have been transposing it. it is very fragile and I have it between sheets of plastic film.

It seems you may already have a copy as this is headed " 1830-1923 .Life of Mrs Higgens snr." My thought's ,after talking to Nola Leov my cousin in Nelson ,were to send it to the Alexander Turnbull . If someone has already transposed it Could I have a copy Please. My eyes get sore doing it !
I am told the Higgens have a family history book so if they don't have the original perhaps they might like this one.
We lived in Wakefield and knew Ross and Hughie. Nanas was the pioneer daughter of Charles and Tilly Turner.
