Douglas McKenzie is a New Zealander who served with the Royal Air Force in England from 1937 to 1947. He then became a member of the colonial administrative service in the Gilbert and Ellice Islands Colony. He currently resides in Christchurch.

Scope and contents:

This collection consists of two manuscripts written by Douglas McKenzie. One relates to his time as a pilot in the Royal Air Force, and the other tells the story of his time as a colonial administrator in the Pacific.

1937 - 1953

Access conditions:

Partial restriction: Permission of Douglas McKenzie (and after his death his daughter, Jane Lila Hopkins) required before photocopying parts of the manuscript or quoting from it in another publication.
