Volunteers wanted at Karori Cemetery, Wellington
In March 2009 we started the Data Capture project of recording digital photographs of all the headstones in Karori & Makara Cemeteries. We employed 3 casual staff for a period of 21 weeks. During this time we recorded all the Makara Cemetery headstones (8500) and approx 30% of the Karori Cemetery headstones (23,781). In total 32,288 images were recorded against a plot. These photos are now available to view via the Council’s cemetery database search function on the Council website.
