Five sheet manuscript memoir by NZ37195 Warrant Officer Gilmore Penda Hawkins, armourers's notebook and 5 newspaper cuttings. Hawkins joined the RNZAF in 1937 and served until 1953, primarily as an armourer.

The memoir covers his early life in New Plymouth and enlistment into the RNZAF, training and broad course of his service with a variety of units and stations during World War 2 in both New Zealand and the Pacific.

The cuttings refer to Royal visits and reviews of New Zealand forces in the 1950s and 60s.
