Description of significant Archive collections for Otautau and Surrounds:

Family history material, Video footage, Audio collection, News Clippings and Newspapers collection, Archive Folders on Public Buildings, BDM & Personal Records Collection, Periodicals, Reference Works, Maps Collection, Manuscripts, Schools Collections, Local Groups & Business Organizations minutes and other matters (no longer operating), Religious Collection, Military Records

Archives sought/collecting interests:

Photographs, home movies, maps, newspaper clippings, obituaries, information on homesteads, family histories, oral histories, events and volunteer groups in these areas: Otautau, Aparima, Scotts Gap, Waikouro, Fairfax, Isla Bank and Wallace County – spanning early settlement period (1860s) to present.

We gratefully appreciate donations to help fund costs of providing and operating the Museum.


$20 per request for us to research, plus other charges at cost.

Visitor information

Opening hours:

First Sunday of the month from 2-4pm.

Contact the Museum Collections Manager beforehand to request other days. While we are often open on Wednesdays - you must contact us so we can confirm someone will be there.

On street parking and at back of building.
