Patrick Ardagh, MB ChB NZ 1911, FRACS 1930. Regd 5 May 1911, Merivale, Christchurch. Born at Ngapara, North Otago. Practised in Christchurch. Served in WW1: MC VC recommended but awarded DSO 1919. From 1930 specialised in surgery. Volunteered WW2 although over age; CO 1 NZ Casualty Clearing Station in Middle East; then ADMS NZ Division, DDMS 30th Corps 1943 with rank of brigadier. CBE 1943. Died on service in England planning Normandy landings.

His service record, medal collection and citations are held in the Royal New Zealand Army Medical Corps Museum.
