Historical Note The Petone Amateur Athletic and Cycling club was founded in 1927, holding its first committee meeting on October 6th in the Oddfellows Hall.

The Petone School was opened in 1882. There are papers including letters, scheme books and official memoranda, 1878-1881.

Historical Notes The Petone Naval Volunteers came into being around 1880 as a contingent of the Wellington Naval Brigade against a background of fear due to the perceived Russian threat.
