Royal New Zealand Medical Corps Museum

1 NZ Services Medical Team was established in 1996 as a part of the NZ contribution to the Veitnam War. It was located in Bong Son, Binh Dinh Province, Vietnam until 1971.

Brigadier "Pat" Ardagh was born in Ngapara 30 August 1891. Educated at Waitaki DHS, Otago University MB Chb 1911. FRACS 1930.

Born 19 May 1897. Brigadier Bull joined the Medical Corps in 1917 as a 2Lt. He was recalled from the Reserve of Officers in 1925.

Brig HS Kenrick born Paeroa 7 August 1898. Died 20 June 1979.

New Zealand had two hospital ships during WW1, the 'Maheno' and the 'Marama', both USS Coy ships. There are descriptions of the voyages, lists of staff and patients, photographs.

Dr Scott born Brookside, Canterbury 10 August 1883. Educated at Christchurch Girls High School, University of Edinburgh, graduating MB ChB in 1912.

Dennis Stewart was born on 31 August 1911 in Wanganui. Educated at Otago University graduating MB ChB 1936 and later BMed Science.

Brigadier John Martin Twhigg born Dunedin in 1900. Physician of Wellington.MB ChB Otago 1923, MD 1931, MRCP London 1927,FRACP 1938.

Ida Grace Willis was born in Wellington in December 1881. She joined the New Zealand Army Nursing Service (NZANS) at the outbreak of WW1 and served in Samoa, the UK and in NZ.
