'Deviations from a pilot's logbook: Squadron Leader V. A. Pederson, New Zealander with the RAF October 1938-July 1942'.
Varley Allen (Jim) Pederson joined the RAF in 1938 at the age of 25.
After attending Advanced Training School, he joined 220 Squadron of Coastal Command at Thornaby, Yorkshire. During much of 1940 he flew Lockheed Hudsons on patrol and on bombing raids over the Continent. He later transferred to Atlantic Ferry Pool, transporting planes across the Atlantic. He then joined 48 Squadron based at Wick, Scotland, flying reconnaissance missions and patrols. He failed to return from a patrol over Norwegian waters on 15 July 1942.

The manuscript includes extracts from Jim Pederson's logbook during his service, along with extensive commentary by the researcher, A.W. Arculus, and the results of investigations into the disappearance of Pederson's last flight.

There are also photocopies of photographs from Pederson's photo albums.
