Ernest Trevor Pellow was born in Onewhero in 1918. He joined the armed forces in 1941, attending Air Training School in Canada. In June 1942 he took part in his first operational flight as bomb aimer in an attack on Bremen, Germany. He subsequently took part in a number of bomber raids with 218 (Gold Coast) Squadron, but was killed in a crash landing on returning from a mission on 14 September 1942. These papers relate mostly to his brief service career but also refer to his even briefer Masonic career, as a member of Lodge Tuakau No 278 in 1941.
