Description:

Halse came to Taranaki on the 'Amelia Thompson', 1841 and was appointed Justice of the Peace. He succeeded F.D. Bell as Resident Agent for the New Zealand Company in New Plymouth, 1848, and became Commissioner of Crown Lands, 1851.

The diary gives day-to-day accounts of life.
