The Ian Matheson City Archives, housed in the Central Library, is the repository for the Palmerston North City Council archives and donated Manawatu and Palmerston North community archives. We also hold extensive research topic files (not listed here) on a wide variety of local subjects.

The archives are available from Research & Archives, 2nd Floor, Central Library. Appointments are strongly advised to ensure timely access to the collections

Photocopying and scanning. Scanning to email if a small quantity. Photographic prints.

Charges:

No charge to enter and access records in person. Photocopying 10c per sheet. First three scans free then $1 per scan.

Mon., Tues., Fri.: 9.30am - 6pm; Wed.: 10am - 6pm; Thurs.: 9.30am - 8pm; Sat.: 10am - 4pm; Sun.: 1pm - 4pm

Onsite parking:

Metered parking is on the streets, and there is free 2-hour carpark a short walk away.

Physical access:

Open to public. Prior arrangement is strongly recommended to speed up access. Some records may require permission.
