Henry Duckworth was born in Dunedin in 1853. He moved to Anderson’s Bay in 1855 and lived there for the rest of his life. A commission agent by profession, he had a deep interest in history, particularly that of Dunedin and Otago

Scope and Content:
A handwritten manuscript, "History of Andersons Bay from 1844 to December 1921, and Tomahawk from 1857 to March 1923." Originally written by Henry Duckworth, as a series of articles for publication in the Otago Daily Times, from January to March, 1923, it was published in book form under the above title, in 1923, by Coulls Somerville Wilkie. A second edition was published by Otago Heritage Books in 1982 under the title "Anderson’s Bay in the Early Days".
