Ruby King is a former singer and composer of Maori songs, whose work 'Puhihuia' was published, recorded and later broadcast by the BBC. Mrs King grew up in Taranaki and Kawhia but has lived for sixty-four years in Mt Eden. The collection consists mainly of letters to the composer about her work from people such as Inia Te Wiata, Phyllis Williams, Nellie Scanlon and Eileen Driscoll. There are also letters from A.H. & A.W. Reed, Allan & Co., Music publishers, and distribution statements of the Australasian Performing Rights Assoc. Ltd.
