Historical Notes

The Guild was formed in New Zealand about 1936 and, on a national level, disbanded in 1960, although the Taita Branch continued after this time. The Guild was concerned with cooperative shops, consumer, health, childcare and community issues, cooperation between organisations and nations and with getting women into public office.

Scope & Contents

Contains minute books 1954-1960; annual general meeting agendas; correspondence and papers 1952-1961, including branch annual reports, financial statements, and newsletters; a roll book 1956-1958; national conference rolls 1936-1957; financial records 1937-1958; branch minute books for Manawatu 1952-1958 and Dannevirke 1936-1938; copies of the "International women cooperator" 1950-1958; and 1960 material concerning the winding up of the Guild.
