Born in Cornwall, John Davies Gilbert Enys came to New Zealand in 1861 with his cousin J.B. Acland, and spent a year being taught farming by the Tripp family, also cousins. He was joined by his younger brother Charles in 1864, and together they took up the Castle Hill Station in Canterbury. J.D. read more …

no, John Enys didn't travel to NZ with Acland - who was not a cousin. Enys arrived on the Chrysolite in July 1861.
Acland returned from England on the Matoaka Feb 1862.
