Description:

F A Anson, son of John Anson, heir presumptive, inherited the baronetcy after the death of Sir William R Anson. He was educated at Trinity College, Oxford. He sailed to New Zealand aboard the "Omeo" in 1875 and bought the run Peraki.

Anson married a daughter of James F Roberts. He stood unsuccessfully for Akaroa and Ellesmere. He was chairman of the Akaroa School Committee, President of the Farmers Association and Chairman of the Akaroa Launch Steam Co which ran the launch "Peraki".

In 1883 he was elected to the Akaroa County Council and was Chairman from 1893-1899. In 1905 he returned to England. He edited George Hempleman's records of the Peraki whaling station and published them under the title of "The Peraki Log".
