Description:

This is a day-by-day account of a journey by train and horse-drawn coach from Christchurch via Arthur's Pass, Greymouth and Reefton to Nelson and return between 19th and 24th October 1897. The description of the journey and terrain passed through is particularly graphic although evidently the work is of a more juvenile rather than mature observer.

The front page of the journal contains a drawing of a coach en route.

This is a photocopy of the original manuscript.

It has been suggested that this item was written by Frederick Warner but the writer appears to be much too young to be Warner, who in any case died by drowning a year before this journey described took place.
