Presentation album and photographs, certificates and ephemera assembled by Ralph Boggust of Manurewa, throughout his career as a horticulturalist and Parks manager.


Ralph Boggust was employed by Manukau City Council as Manager, Parks and Civic Areas, from 1966 until 1992. Mr Boggust initiated the planning and design for Manukau Square. A park created in Mangere in 2010 and the volcano inside it were named after him.

Ralph Boggust and his team collaborated with the Manukau community on BMX tracks, marae, historical buildings, skateparks, uniforms for parks officers, parks in each ward, the shared responsibility loan scheme, planting trees for the future and feature parks.

Mr Boggust also served as the New Zealand commissioner on the International Federation of Parks and Recreation for many years.
