Description:

Transcribed notes from an interview held with local Pūkaki residents Matua Bobby and Whaea Ngahuia Clark, interviewed by Kathleen Tamaki, Maori Outreach Services Librarian, at the South Auckland Research Centre in 2015.
They describe growing up at Pukaki in Mangere, work at the local Chinese gardens, childhood activities and games, the landscape, attending Mangere Central School and later Otahuhu College. The effect of the building of Auckland Airport on the local community and David Lange's visit. Reference to the original Pūkaki Marae building being built with raupō and having stained glass windows.
With hand written notes by Sharon Smith who was also present during the interview.
