George Wycherley was a journalist and a keen cricket supporter. He wrote for the "Evening Star" and the "Star Sports" as "Wallaby", and was associated in various capacities with the Otago Cricket Association and the Dunedin Cricket Club. As a journalist he was writing articles until his death, even after his retirement in 1948. He was secretary and president of the Dunedin Journalists' Union on a number of occasions.

Scope and Content:
Three volumes of sports results recording events and scores including cricket, athletics, shooting, boxing, bowling, lawn tennis, swimming, quoits, yachting, and horse racing, mainly for Australasian events, but there are some for overseas, 1887-ca1895; volume of newspaper clippings, items about cricket are pasted into the front of the volume and rugby events are in the back, there are a number of loose clippings, 1943-50
