Flying log book, medal entitlement letter, two photographs and condolence card relating to the RNZAF service of NZ41623 Pilot Officer John Oscar Lloyd Stephenson.

Stephenson was born at Patea on 9 June 1915 and attended New Plymouth Boys High School. He served in the Territorial Force from 1931 and joined New Plymouth Aero Club. He was selected for a short service commission in the RAF in 1938 and embarked for Britain. After training he was posted to 206 Squadron, Coastal Command, RAF at Bircham Newton in August 1940. He was killed when his aircraft crashed on 14 August 1940.

The Museum also holds his medal group.
